Meghan Markle and Prince Harry respond to ‘global baby shower’ and urge NO PRESENTS | Royal | News

Meghan and Harry’s followers launched the #GlobalSussexBabyShower fundraiser on social media last weekend which saw thousands of pounds donated to charities supported by the royal couple to celebrate Baby Sussex. The parents-to-be have now responded on their new Instagram account, describing it as as “incredibly special surprise”. The royal couple also called on fans to continue donating to charity rather than buy them presents.

Meghan and Harry said: “What an incredibly special surprise the grassroots led #globalsussexbabyshower was last Sunday!

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are immensely grateful for the outpouring of love and support in anticipation of the birth of their first child.

“In lieu of sending gifts, the couple have long planned to encourage members of the public to make donations to select charities for children and parents in need.

“If you already made a donation, the couple send you their greatest thanks.

“If you are thinking about it, they ask that you kindly consider the following organisations they’ve selected, which we will highlight here over the next few days: @thelunchboxfund @littlevillagehq @wellchild @baby2baby.

“The Duke and Duchess remain appreciative for your warm wishes and kindness during this especially happy time in their lives! Thank you for sharing the love.”

Alongside the post, Meghan and Harry shared a gallery of images, including an adorable snap taken from their royal visit to Morocco in February.

The couple’s followers reacted with delight to the post.

One commented: “It’s been my pleasure giving to others in honor of your sweet little one! Many congrats to you both!!”

Another said: “Congratulations! We are sooo happy for you!!!”

A third wrote: “Will have to donate again to all of them our little or a lot is always will be grateful..”

One more added: “We were happy to receive the feedback from the charities. What joy giving brings. We cant wait tp love that baby.”

Another said: “Proud to be a part of this great cause.”

Meghan’s tot is due in April or early May but the exact date has been kept a closely-guarded secret.

The US-born former actress headed to New York in February for her official baby shower.

Meghan and Harry moved into their new Windsor home Frogmore Cottage this week.

The property has been undergoing multimillion pound renovations which reportedly overran after the couple kept changing their minds.

Just before moving in, they enjoyed a three-night £33,000 “babymoon” at a luxury hotel in Hampshire.

A friend of the couple told The Sun: “Meghan is only a couple of weeks away from giving birth, so Harry really wanted to treat her.”
