A former CEO of the Ed Hardy clothing company allegedly sexually harassed a Polish teenager he hired to work as a live-in au pair, a new lawsuit alleges.
Gary Berman, 57, got the 19-year-old nanny drunk during a supposed business trip to Miami and groped her, according to the lawsuit filed in Manhattan federal court Wednesday.
The au pair, Martyna Zuchowska, also claims that within a month of her employment in Berman’s Westchester County home, Berman asked her what “lingerie she wore, what was her breast size, and offered to buy sexy lace lingerie for her,” according to the suit.
On another occasion, he handed her an open laptop computer that had an internet browser open with 20 tabs of different pornographic videos, according to the suit.
Zuchowska claimed in the suit that she came to the US from Poland through a company that provides au pairs and was excited to learn about American customs and culture.
The suit adds that she wanted to work as a “big sister” to Berman’s 12-year-old son, whom she was hired to look after.
Zuchowska seeks unspecified damages for a failure to pay overtime and creating a hostile work environment.
Berman could not be reached for comment early Thursday.
