Fortnite developer Epic Games has reinstated the gifting feature, and just in time for the latest item shop update.
Fortnite’s gifting feature lets users purchase cosmetic items for friends and fellow players.
In a surprise update, Epic Games has reactivated the gifting feature for a limited time.
“Gifting is back for a limited time!” reads an Epic post. “Hop in and surprise a friend with a present.”
There’s no word on how long Gifting will be available for, so you should act quickly if you want to take advantage.
The last time gifting made an appearance it was only active for four days.
Using the gifting feature is easy if you have two factor authentication enabled (2FA).
When you select an item you want to buy, you’ll be given the option to purchase for yourself or buy as a gift.
Once you’ve picked a friend to send the gift to, you can even add a personalised message.
The recipient will receive the gift in an item box the next time they login to play Fortnite.
Of course, none of this is possible unless you have 2FA set up on your account.
If you don’t have 2FA, the game will take you to a screen which links through to the authentication website.
The Gifting feature returns just a few days after the release of Fortnite content update 8.20.
The headline new feature is a Boom Bow that explodes on impact and causes serious damage.
Then there’s the Sniper Challenge LTM, which sees long-range shooters face off in battle.
The update also makes a handful of bug fixes and gameplay tweaks.
