The true countdown to Avengers: Endgame has begun as we head into the final few weeks before it will be released. After the success of Captain Marvel, comic book fans have plenty to look forward to. Here’s all you need to know about the upcoming final chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase three.
When is the Avengers: Endgame release date?
Avengers: Endgame is out in UK cinemas on Thursday, April 25, 2019.
Ever since the final moment of Avengers: Infinity War, fans have been parsing the film for clues to the sequel.
In October 2014, Marvel announced the two-part sequel to Age of Ultron.
Avengers: Infinity War was the first, which was released on April 26, 2018, and exactly a year later Endgame will be in cinemas.
What is the Avengers: Endgame plot?
The Avengers: Endgame synopsis reads: “Adrift in space with no food or water, Tony Stark sends a message to Pepper Potts as his oxygen supply starts to dwindle.
“Meanwhile, the remaining Avengers – Thor, Black Widow, Captain America and Bruce Banner – must figure out a way to bring back their vanquished allies.
“They must all come together for an epic showdown with Thanos – the evil demigod who decimated the planet and the universe.”
The plot is wholly taken from the first trailer, but as we get closer to the release date more details are sure to arise.
Who is in the Avengers: Endgame cast?
The surviving Avengers include: Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Danai Gurira (Okoye), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Karen Gillan (Nebula) Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), and Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper).
Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) will also be seen in the present-day for the first time since her own mid-credits scene.
The unaccounted for Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts) and Letitia Wright (Shuri) may also show their faces.
New Avengers being added to the mix include Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, with Evangeline Lilly (The Wasp) and Michelle Pfeiffer (the other Wasp) and fans will therefore probably see Michael Douglas (Hank Pym).
Hawkeye, played by Jeremy Renner, will also appear in Avengers: Endgame despite being left out of Infinity War.
Jon Favreau (Happy Hogan) has reportedly also filmed scenes for the movie.
Fan theories speculate the Avengers wiped out of existence by Thanos are not really dead, just trapped in another dimension.
The Ant-Man and the Wasp movie coming up adds credence to this theory given the prevalence of the quantum realm in its plot.
Of the Avengers cast, Chris Hemsworth also confirmed Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Chris Pratt “and more” will appear in Avengers: Endgame.
He also confirmed the fan theory that Benicio Del Toro will be reprising his Guardians of the Galaxy role as the Collector for Avengers: Endgame.
